The After Dark Boudoir Session in Columbus, OH: What It Is, Why It's Our Most Requested Session, and Who It's For
There's a shot from a recent After Dark session I keep coming back to. A woman in a red silk robe, sitting on the edge of the bed, looking back over her shoulder. Nothing about it is a perfect pose — we weren't chasing perfect that afternoon. We were playing. I challenged myself to try something with her I'd never shot before, we laughed between frames, and somewhere in there she stopped performing for the camera and just existed in the moment.
That's the session that explains itself better than I ever could in words. That's After Dark.
What Actually Happens During an After Dark Session
The lights come down. The pace slows down with them. Where our standard Empowerment sessions move through outfits and sets at a clip, After Dark lingers. Fewer sets, more time in each one, richer tones, deeper shadow.
Michael and I are in the room with you the whole time — adjusting light, trying a pose again with different energy, laughing when something doesn't land, celebrating when it does. Clients tell us they forget the camera is even there. That's exactly the point. We're not directing a performance. We're building a space quiet enough that a woman can hear herself think, and safe enough that she stops holding her breath.

Why This Is Our Most Requested Session
We didn't plan for After Dark to become what it's become. It started as an option and turned into the session women ask for by name, sometimes before they've even seen a photo from it.
I think it's because vulnerability is easier in the dark. Not hidden — just unhurried. There's no bright light forcing you to perform confidence you don't feel yet. There's just low light, quiet, and time to arrive at it honestly.

Who After Dark Is For
After Dark stands on its own as a session, and it's also become one of the most requested add-ons to our Empowerment Sessions and Couples Sessions. If reconnecting with your partner is what brought you to us, we can build an After Dark set into that shoot. If studio walls aren't the vibe and you'd rather do this on location, we can talk about that too.
It's for the woman who's done a session with us before and wants to go somewhere deeper. It's for the woman who's never done this and knows, somehow, that bright and bold isn't her entry point — quiet is.

A Note on Vulnerability
I hear some version of this often: "I don't know if I could actually be that open in front of a camera."
Here's what I've learned after every After Dark session we've shot: you don't arrive vulnerable. You become it, in the room, usually without noticing the exact moment it happened. The women who leave the most changed aren't the ones who walked in already comfortable. They're the ones who walked in anyway, unsure, and let the process do what it does.
That's not a small thing. That's the whole thing.

This Is a Limited-Availability Session
We only keep a handful of After Dark openings each month, because every session needs the time and attention it deserves — rushing this one isn't an option. If this has been sitting with you, don't wait for the "right" moment. Book now, and we'll get you on the calendar.

Questions before you book? I hope so! I prefer that I speak with everyone BEFORE she books her session. It's important to me that we are a good fit for you. Reach out. That's what I'm here for.
